If you want to get out and about on xmas day and avoid slumming it in front of the box since xmas tv is getting worse every year anyway.. Go and watch the Peter Pan cup swimming event organised by the Serpentine Swimming Club. Stricly for watching bear in mind, since the waters about 40 degrees below freezing! This event takes place every year as part of Serpentine swimming club tradition.

The name of the 100-yard handicap race derives from the fact that in 1904 Sir James Barrie presented the first Peter Pan cup to the winner, marking a change in the tradition that had seen the winner receive a gold medal since the race’s instigation in 1864. The race starts on the south side of the lake, close to the Serpentine Café.
